Taking the marriage course at home?

While it can be a great encouragement to attend a Building a Safe & Strong Marriage course in a group setting, we understand that not all couples will feel comfortable doing so, or you may not find a course that’s being run in your area (check that out here).

Taking the Building a Safe & Strong Marriage course at home is easy! Just follow these simple steps:

  1. Downloaded the sessions, or purchase the DVD,
  2. Familiarise yourself with the Facilitator Manual, and
  3. Have your Participant Workbooks and a pen or pencil handy

We hope you’ll settle down in a cosy space with your husband or wife and set aside about 2 hours to work through each session. We recommend doing this once a week for 5 weeks.

This creates a good habit of setting aside time to regularly work on your relationship.

Think of it as a date night! Light some candles, order in your favourite take-away and tuck into a delicious dessert. Alternatively, you could set aside a weekend to do an intensive, beginning with Session 1 on Friday evening and working through the remaining 4 sessions over Saturday and Sunday.

During each session, you’ll watch some material from Keith & Sarah Condie, hear from couples who are taking the course – just like you; see video interview with couples at various stages in their marriages, who provide insight into some of the topics covered; watch some role-plays that illustrate key ideas; and have time to do couple or individual exercises, which are dispersed throughout each session.
